Bobrisky Admits Gender in Court, Sentenced to Six Months Imprisonment

Controversial figure, Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, made a stunning revelation today during his appearance at the Federal High Court in Lagos State. Facing charges for abusing the naira, Bobrisky admitted to being male when questioned by Justice Abimbola Awogboro.

As a result of his guilty plea, Justice Awogboro sentenced Bobrisky to six months imprisonment without the option of a fine. This decision was made to deter others from engaging in similar acts of currency abuse.

The sentencing, which commenced on March 24, 2024, the day of Bobrisky’s arrest, follows his conviction on April 5. Despite pleading for leniency and expressing remorse, the judge emphasized the seriousness of the offense and the need to uphold the integrity of the nation’s currency.

Bobrisky’s legal troubles began after a video surfaced showing him spraying wads of cash at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s ‘Beasts of Two Worlds’ movie on March 24, 2024.

Following his arrest, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed that Bobrisky had tampered with the Naira on multiple occasions in 2023. Additionally, he was charged with two counts of money laundering related to activities of a company he established called the Bob Express.

Although two charges of money laundering were dropped, Bobrisky was convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos after pleading guilty to charges related to Naira abuse.

During his plea, Bobrisky expressed remorse and pledged to use his platform to educate his followers about the legal implications of currency abuse. However, the judge reiterated that ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
