Namibia’s tourism officials have voiced strong condemnation following a controversial incident involving tourists posing nude at the renowned Big Daddy dune in the Namib desert.
Reports indicate that the behavior of unidentified tourists, captured in photos and a video widely circulated on social media, has sparked outrage among locals and tourism authorities alike. Kenneth Nependa, vice-chairperson of the Federation of Namibian Tourism Associations, expressed concern over the negative impact such actions could have on the country’s image as a tourist destination.
Romeo Muyunda, spokesperson for the ministry of environment, forestry, and tourism, labeled the incident as “extremely shocking” and emphasized that it violates Namibian laws regarding public decency.
While the identity of the tourists remains unknown, there have been calls for swift action, including potential blacklisting from Namibia’s parks. Authorities are urging citizens to report any further violations of park regulations promptly.
